The solar optical properties are used to calculate the shading coefficient. The shading coefficient represents the percentage of solar heat gain that is transmitted to the interior through the glass and shading system. Lighter color fabrics reflect more light reducing heat buildup. Darker colors provide maximum glare reduction while maintaining the visibility.

Naturally Green/ leed® points

Roll-A-Shade® fabrics have characteristics that go beyond solar shading alone. Because it blocks solar heat gain and reduces harmful UV’s inside, it is naturally “Green”. It is also tear-resistant, rot proof, and anti-bacterial. Many of our solar shade fabrics are Greenguard® Certified giving it a low chemical and particulate emission for indoor use.

Greenguard® is an indoor air quality certification program for low emitting products and materials.
Greenguard® fabrics are evaluated for over 75,000 chemicals including volatile organic compounds, carcinogens and reproductive toxins.

We also offer Dow Ecolibrium Bio-Based Plasticizers which offers a renewable alternative that is phthalate-free, offering a more sustainable option while having the same great performance and feel. Available in Phifer Sheerweave 4000, 4100 & 4400.
